Wondering What's Going On At North and Main? Then Come To May 3 Public Hearing

Hearing to provide information, get feedback, on changes at busy Stoneham intersection.

A Public Information Meeting will be held by MassDOT on Wednesday, May 3, at 7 to discuss the proposed Traffic Signal & Intersection Improvements at Main Street (Route 28) & North Street project in Stoneham.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Traffic Signal & Intersection Improvements at Main Street (Route 28) & North Street project. All views and comments made at the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Geometric modifications include additional turn lanes as follows: Main Street northbound, left turns and southbound, right turns; and North Street eastbound and westbound, left turns. The additional lane width is achieved by eliminating a segment of the median and minor roadway widening. Additional construction improvements include: ADA/AAB compliant sidewalks and wheelchairs ramps; new granite curbs; installation of new traffic signal equipment that includes accessible pedestrian signal push buttons; roadway resurfacing; new signs; and new pavement markings. All bicycle and pedestrian accommodations have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.
