Stoughton Firefighters Handle 304 EMS Calls, 33 Crashes In July

STOUGHTON, MA — Stoughton fire crews responded to more than 500 calls in July, according to new data released by the fire department.

Stoughton firefighters handled 514 calls during the month, including 304 emergency medical calls, 33 motor vehicle crashes, 100 service calls and nine fires or explosions, the department announced Wednesday.

The department also responded to 33 false alarms, 17 good intent calls, 16 hazardous conditions and two special incidents. No overpressure ruptures or severe weather and natural disaster calls were reported.

Overall call volume decreased from 533 calls in June. Emergency medical calls fell from 322 to 304 while motor vehicle crashes increased from 30 to 33.

False alarms more than doubled from 16 in June to 33 in July. Fires and explosions increased from seven to nine while service calls declined from 107 to 100.

Stoughton provided mutual aid to other communities 21 times in July, up from 19 times in June. The department received mutual aid twice, compared with 18 times the previous month.
