Stoughton Man Sentenced For Fentanyl, Cocaine Charges

A Stoughton man was sentenced after pleading guilty for his role distributing fentanyl and cocaine for the Brockton gang A Block.

STOUGHTON, MA — A Stoughton man was sentenced Monday to about a month in prison and three years probation after pleading guilty for his role in a Brockton-based fentanyl and cocaine ring.

Last month, Joseph Greene, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, 400 grams or more of fentanyl, cocaine, cocaine base, oxycodone and marijuana.

Greene's arrest was one of 10 stemming from a November 2018 investigation into A Block, a violent Brockton street gang based in the Addison Avenue area, the U.S. Attoreny General's office said. The neighborhood has been plagued by shootings, including two murders, and other crimes of violence for years, according to authorities.

Prosecutors said Greene on several occasions purchased cocaine from Djuna Goncalves, 36, the leader of A Block. Goncalves is still awaiting trial.

Following the guilty plea, Greene enrolled in the court run RISE (Repair, Invest, Succeed, Emerge) program. Prosectuors said he successfully completed the program which aims to promote rehabilitation, accepting responsibility and reducing recidivism.
