Stoughton Starts Memorial Day Weekend With Reflagging, Parade to be Held Monday
The annual parade is scheduled for 9 a.m. on May 25.

Memorial Day may not be until Monday, but the town of Stoughton is getting a head start on remembering those who have scarified for this nation.
On Saturday, community members helped reflag the grave of Stoughton veterans at Holy Sepulcher and Evergreen Cemeteries.

Then on Monday, the town will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade at 9 a.m. The route will start on Central Street before heading towards Holy Sepulcher Cemetery for two ceremonies, Pearl Street Cemetery for a ceremony and town hall for a ceremony and wreath laying at the Memorial Bell at approximately 10:15 a.m. After the wreath laying ceremony, the parade will proceed through Stoughton Square to Faxon Veterans’ Memorial Park for ceremonies at the two memorials. The parade will then heads towards Washington Street and on to Evergreen Cemetery for two ceremonies at the GAR Lot and the American Legion Burial site.
Ceremonies will include the marking of the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam Conflict, the POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at Town Hall and the reciting of the Gettysburg Address at the GAR lot at Evergreen Cemetery.

The parade will end at approximately noon at which time everyone is invited to a collation at the Stoughton VFW at 837 Washington Street.
