SUDBURY — The Town of Sudbury is inviting residents to take part in shaping the future of the Fairbank Community Center and Haskell Field as officials advance a long-term landscape master plan for the site.
A public workshop focused on the Fairbank–Haskell Field Landscape Plan will be held on Apr. 30. The session is part of an ongoing effort to gather community input on how the 40 Fairbank Rd. campus should be designed and used in the years ahead.
The planning process centers on developing a comprehensive landscape master plan for both the Fairbank Community Center grounds and adjacent Haskell Field, which serve as key recreation and civic spaces in Sudbury. The town is working with a landscape architecture and engineering firm to create a unified vision that includes recreation upgrades, accessibility improvements, and long-term site design concepts.
The master plan is intended to provide “a broad framework for the long-term development” of the site, incorporating features such as new or improved recreational facilities, accessible pathways, a potential pavilion, and multi-sport courts, while also addressing circulation, parking, and open space design elements, according to project materials.
The Fairbank–Haskell planning effort builds on earlier phases of work at the campus, which has already undergone major redevelopment in recent years. The broader Fairbank Community Center project has included new construction, renovations and phased improvements to modernize facilities serving seniors, recreational programs and school administrative offices.
The April workshop is one of several engagement steps expected as the town continues refining the design direction for the site. Additional meetings and feedback opportunities are anticipated before a final plan is completed.
