SUDBURY, MA — Sudbury residents will gather next month to remember the lives lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
A public commemoration ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 11, at the September 11th Memorial Garden in Heritage Park, the town announced. The event will mark the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 people killed, including Sudbury residents Geoffrey Cloud, Cora Hidalgo Holland and Peter Morgan Goodrich. The three residents are memorialized on bronze plaques in the garden, according to the town's Memorial Garden Oversight Committee.
Sudbury dedicated the garden on Sept. 11, 2003.
It includes flowering plants and trees, three bluestone benches and a center stone made of Sudbury granite. The plaques on the stone recount the events of Sept. 11 and memorialize the three residents.
Heritage Park is at the intersection of Concord Road and Old Sudbury Road, also known as Route 27, across from Town Hall. Parking will be available behind Town Hall.
