Arrest Made In Death Of Man Found Dead In Worcester Fire

Breaking: A 53-year-old man was found deceased in his home. A Worcester man has been charged with assault and battery.

WORCESTER, MA—An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a man who was found in a house fire.

Brayan Flores, 28, Vernon Street, Worcester, was arrested on Friday, July 28, around 11 p.m. after an extensive investigation following the death investigation at house fire at 12 Halmstad St. on Tuesday evening.

On July 25, around 11:45 p.m., Worcester Police and Worcester Fire responded to the home for a report of a fire, and found a 53-year-old man dead in his home. He was identified as David Carlson.

Flores was arrested that evening and charged with shoplifting, an unrelated matter, said police.

During the investigation detectives established probable cause to charge Flores with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

Flores’s brother, Sergio Flores, 26, Vernon Street, Worcester, was also placed under arrest without incident. Sergio Flores was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear to a grand jury summons. The summons was part of the ongoing investigation.

This investigation continues to move forward, said police. Additional charges may be added pending the conclusion of the autopsy results.
