LS All Sports Boosters Holds Annual Ski and Sports Sale September 24th!

The Lincoln Sudbury All Sports Boosters will once again throw a sale not to be forgotten! For the 8th consecutive year, Boosters volunteers spend time collecting and labeling thousands of pieces of sports equipment all in service of supporting Lincoln Sudbury High School athletes.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to raise money to support athletes and this was an idea that really took. The community looks forward to this every year -- both as a place to donate what they no longer need and to purchase great equipment for the coming season,” says event Co-Chair and Board member, Susan Smith.

For two days prior to the sale, the Field House opens their doors from 9:00 - 6:00 when community members can drop off items for volunteers to price and label for the sale. Items donated include anything and everything that is in accepable shape to be used by someone else. Items for sale would typically fully outfit an athlete including pads, skates, cleats, helmets, sticks, rackets, pucks, balls, bats and gloves. The Boosters also accept donations of bikes, gym equipment, backyard games, and duffel bags.

“We really don’t turn away any item that can be used again by another person. It is always the case that something outgrown by one child can be used by another. Adults love the sale because many want to try out a new sport but don’t want to sink the money into all the equipment so they come to the sale and can try something new without burning a hole in their pocket,” said event Co-Chair, Jill Rizzotti.

If history repeats itself, folks will line up early on Saturday, September 24th, and doors are open between 9:00 and 12:00.The frenzy of activity and the energy inside is one of fun and community as people select what they want and volunteers help them get their items to the check-out. Volunteers include Board members, community members, and athletes from all Lincoln-Sudbury teams and clubs. In addition to donated items, the LS Boosters Ski and Sports Sale will also have a vendor from a ski shop helping with fittings and sales of skis, snowboards, boots, and bindings and share a portion of their proceeds with LS Boosters.

“We wait all year for the LS Sports Sale! With four kids it’s a lifeline to keep ahead of all the equipment they need throughout the year. Also, its a great way to clean out closets by donating items that are still in great shape,” shared Val Friedholm, who has attended the event for the last several years.

The Lincoln Sudbury All Sports Boosters was founded in 1991 and donates about $50,000 each year to the athletic program. The all-volunteer Board holds various fundraisers in order to support all varsity, junior varsity, freshmen and club sports at LS. In addition to the Ski and Sports Sale, the LS Booster Club offers family memberships which allows for entrance into all home games, runs a school store, and holds an annual Golf Tournament, all in an effort to fund equipment needs, pay tournament fees, fund field maintenance and support the Senior Athlete Banquet.
