SUDBURY, MA — The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be in Sudbury on Wednesday to apply pesticides to control the adult mosquito population, according to the agency.

The spraying will take place Wednesday from around dusk until 11:30 p.m. The spraying will focus on neighborhoods between Route 20 and the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge including along Howell Road, Austin Road, Barton Drive, Oakwood Avenue, Reeves Street, Pratt’s Mill Road and Evergreen Road.

The pesticide Zenivex E4 will be deployed from truck-mounted aerosol sprayers, according to the project.

"Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide. Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes," EMMCP said of the pesticide.

Still, residents should stay indoors and close windows while spraying trucks are nearby, according to officials.
