I plan to vote YES on Sewataro. I’ve lived in Sudbury for over 33 years. I have never written a letter to the editor, put a bumper sticker on my car, nor held signs on the town common before. I’m the lady that has stood in front of the schools, rain or shine, waving to you cheerfully in hopes that you will vote YES. Sudbury is such a beautiful town with a rich history and charm. I believe by purchasing Sewataro we will not only preserve what is special about our town, we will enhance it. What will we have left if we lose the character of our town?
I admire the people that are taking a creative approach with our town’s resources to benefit all residents. As an artist, whenever a painting isn’t working well, I turn it upside down to glean a new perspective. I also step away from my work and look at it with fresh eyes. Oftentimes, we have approached town initiatives the same way over and over again, struggling on how to progress them. I, for one, love this new approach. Please be open to new ideas and look at Sewataro with fresh eyes. To be sure, there are issues which we will have to confront, but don’t let them obscure the possibilities.

Several people tell me that if we buy Sewataro they don’t trust the town will manage it properly. Admittedly, I’ve been a little cynical in the past, but I no longer feel that way. I have attended many meetings over the past several months and am impressed by the talented, dedicated individuals working for our best interests. They are working tirelessly to create a space for all residents to enjoy. I have personally seen representatives reach out to town departments in hopes that we can all work together for a common good. I am optimistic about this energetic leadership. I trust them.
My husband and I spoke after I came home from a late meeting. We have worked hard on school and town projects over the years. We always try to leave things better than we find them with each and every project. How will we leave our mark on our town? Preserving Sewataro is a legacy that we can enjoy today and pass down to future generations. Please Vote YES with me on June 4th.
