Sudbury To Debut New Meals Program With Grand Opening Gala

SUDBURY, MA — The Sudbury Senior Center is celebrating its new meals program with a grand opening gala next month.

Sudbury Eats, a lunch program that provides meals and social connection for older adults at the Fairbank Community Center, is set to debut. A free event celebrating the program will be Sept. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The gala at the Senior Center at 40 Fairbank Rd. will include hors d’oeuvres and sweets as attendees learn more about the program.

Cummings Foundation Grant

The event will also recognize the Cummings Foundation for awarding the Senior Center a $225,000 grant, which will be distributed over three years.

The money is expected to support staffing, food service operations and help bring the center’s commercial kitchen into full operation, the Senior Center said in a June announcement.

Sudbury Eats began a gradual rollout in April, serving one freshly prepared meal each week. The Cummings Foundation grant should help the program offer meals more frequently and serve more older adults.

The program's mission is to provide nutritious meals, create opportunities for social connection and strengthen the town’s emergency shelter capabilities.
