Sudbury Food Pantry Gets $10K Grant
The money from the Northern Bank and Trust Charitable Foundation will help the food pantry during the pandemic.

The Sudbury Community Food Pantry (SCFP), now in its 30th year of providing food assistance to the underserved, is the grateful recipient of a very generous $10,000.00 grant awarded by the Northern Bank & Trust Charitable Foundation in furtherance of their objective to make a difference in the communities they serve.

Understanding that food insecurity is a growing concern as we fight this pandemic and economic crisis, the donation was awarded to help support SCFP’s mission to serve individuals and families who are struggling during the COVID-10 crisis (no matter where the client resides). New data from Feeding America, projects 1 in 8 people in Eastern Massachusetts will experience food insecurity in 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic, with a further projection that 1 in 6 children risk experiencing hunger. In that regard, some of SCFP’s newest clients report their recent visit being the first time they’ve been to a food pantry.
The SCFP, has been operating as a drive-through operation since March 2020 and is still and nonetheless offering clients their choices of food and hygiene products. It is located in the basement of Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road in Sudbury. Hours of operations are Tuesday and Thursdays from noon to 2:15. However beginning August 4th, hours will begin and end an hour earlier (11AM thru 1:15). Visit SCFP on Facebook (Sudbury Community Food Pantry) or on their website sudburyfoodpantry.org.
