Sudbury League of Women Voters Fundraiser For Domestic Violence
The LWV of Sudbury is raising money to buy grocery gift cards for local domestic violence survivors.

SUDBURY, MA — The League of Women Voters of Sudbury on Monday kicked off a fundraiser seeking money to buy grocery store gift cards for local survivors of domestic violence. The gift cards are needed badly due to a rise in domestic violence incidents during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the LWV.

The League of Women Voters of Sudbury is holding a grocery gift card drive to benefit survivors of domestic violence.

The League is working with Gifts of Hope Unlimited (GOHU), a Sudbury organization which raises resources to help individuals and families impacted by relationship abuse.
During this COVID-19 health crisis, GOHU and its social services partners have identified a serious need for grocery gift cards for survivors who are not only struggling to build new lives but are struggling to eat.

Donations will be made directly to GOHU, and every dollar donated will be used to buy grocery cards. A group of Sudbury League members has pledged to match the first $1325 in donations.
The grocery card drive will run from June 1 to June 15. To make a tax-deductible donation, visit giftsofhopeunlimited.org. Click on the “donate” button. Click “(Optional) Use this donation for” and choose “grocery gift card” in the dropdown menu. Reports of domestic abuse have increased in Sudbury since the pandemic began. Food insecurity is at an all-time high.
