Sudbury PD Warn The Gunshots You Hear Could Be From Hunters
The department received a few phone calls about gun shots in town and ware reminding residents, it's hunting season.
SUDBURY, MA — If you've heard gunshots recently, you're not alone. In fact, the Sudbury Police Department's dispatchers have received several phone calls about the sounds, but the department said, it's not what residents think it is.
Hunting season for many species of bird in the area started at the beginning of the month, which has been the source for many of the gunshots residents heard, police said. The department posted an informational graphic about what birds are in season to hunt for residents reference.
According to the state division of fisheries and wildlife, ducks are not in hunting season yet but several other birds are in September, including:

While hunting season may be the cause for some of the noise, it's important to remember to call the police if you hear or see a serious threat in town.
