Why Are You Seeing Tagged Trees In Sudbury?

SUDBURY, MA — Town officials are letting residents know that over the weekend, Eversource began marking trees on private and public property.

The markings are flags of trees that the company is going to request be removed, but Eversource has assured town officials that they will not cut anything down until they have a permission form signed by a property owner, or tree warden.

Since it has been proposed, Sudbury has collectively been opposedto the Eversource transmission line through the town. The Sudbury Board of Selectmen, the Sudbury town manager, the Historic Districts Commission and the Conservation Commission last March all publicly voiced opposition to the proposal.
