According to an extended forecast released by The Weather Channel this week, the eastern part of the united states can expect a cool summer. The west, they say, will get a warmer-than-average summer.
The pattern follows a similar one of this past winter, and the temperatures this summer can be blamed on a possible strengthening El Nino.

“East of the Rockies, below-average temperatures are forecast from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic westward to the Ohio Valley, middle/lower Mississippi Valleys and southern Plains,” said TWC.
According to the Weather Channel, the “cooler than normal” prediction applies to the Northeast in May, June and July.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac conflicts with the Weather Channel’s prediction, stating that in the Northeast, “Summer will be hotter than normal, with below-normal rainfall. The hottest periods will occur in early June, early July, mid- to late July, and early August.”
