CONCERT SINGERS ANNOUNCE SPRING CONCERT
Concert Singers Spring Concert will feature both French and American music including "Gloria" a new work by Lynn resident Javier Marquez.

The Concert Singers Announce Spring Concert!
The Concert Singers will conclude their thirty-sixth season with a concert entitled “Viva la France!” and “God Bless America.” The single performance will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2:30 pm, at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 571 Boston Street, Lynn. The concert is free of charge and the venue is handicap-accessible.
The “Viva la France!” portion will feature the popular “Requiem” by Gabriel Faure, and be followed with Faure's “Cantique de Jean Racine”. In addition, Juli Miller, harpist, will play an outstanding 19th century French harp solo.

The “God Bless America” portion will feature three anthems by Boston composer Alan Hovhaness, a newly commissioned work “Gloria” by Lynn resident Javier Marquez, and conclude with seven American spirituals by American composer Moses Hogan. Featured soloists are Denise Konicek of Winchester, and Franklin Moseley from Boston. The 55-voice chorus will be accompanied by a small orchestra.
William C. Sano of Salem has been music director of the Concert Singers for twenty-nine years. Sano is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, teaches for the Salem State Explorers LLI, is an active church choir organist and choirmaster, and is a former music supervisor in the Marblehead Public Schools. He also directs the popular “Season at Symphony” class in
Swampscott. The chorus’ accompanist is Margaret J. Dee, a charter member of the Concert Singers, former music teacher in Danvers Public Schools, and is currently the organist of Our Lady Church in Lynnfield. The chorus members hail from seventeen cities and towns north of Boston, as well as two more from Pembroke and Plymouth MA on the South Shore!
