Hispanic women are on the rise in Lynn politics
Candidate for city councilor Elizabeth Figueroa wants to make a difference in Lynn's ward 2
My name is Yaris Cruz, and as someone who was born and raised in Lynn and the first in my Dominican family to graduate from college, I believe it is extremely important for me to write this letter endorsing Elizabeth Figueroa’s candidacy for city councilor in Ward 2. On a personal level, Elizabeth and I share the same Christian values and an abiding love for our community. Especially, its most vulnerable members. Working alongside Elizabeth while she is the property manager of an affordable senior housing urban and development property in Lynn, I am able to see Elizabeth expertly handle the day-to-day challenges of the business she manages up close and personally and as her web site says, “her decades of involvement and volunteer work in the Lynn area have earned her the reputation of being a problem solver” in the community as well.
Like many other Hispanic young women facing a multitude of challenges was nothing new to Elizabeth. Still, she remained driven to chart her own course and take charge of her future at an early age, staying in the community she loved and earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in criminal justice from Marion Court College in Swampscott. She immediately used her knowledge and experience in her majors of social work and political science to make an impact on our community’s most vulnerable members, including seniors, our youth, and victims of domestic violence. Now, having lived in the community for over 35 years, Elizabeth has a deep connection to its residents and business leaders.
Beyond her successful business life as a property manager and small business owner in the city she loves, Elizabeth is a devoted wife, mother, and foster mom. Her two sons were also born and raised in Lynn, having attended, and graduated from the Lynn Public School system. As a parent she instilled in her children her strong beliefs in faith, community, and country. With one son already being an honored military veteran and raising his own family and another on a promising path to higher education and carrying on the family tradition of excellence and success.

Elizabeth’s strong passion for social justice, diversity, and inclusivity, along with her love and devotion to our community, set her aside from all other candidates and have put her on an inevitable path of public service where she intends to have a very meaningful impact for many years. She is committed to representing the best interests of the residents in her ward and working toward the greater good of all members of the community in the vital and historic city of Lynn. I cannot emphasize strongly enough how important it will be to vote for this amazing and accomplished individual on Tuesday November 7th, 2023. When you are in the voting booth on that day, remember the name, ELIZABETH FIGUEROA.
It’s time for a change and you will be so glad you did.
