New Year's Eve Comedy at Amazing Things, Framingham

Framingham show features Boston comedians who are clean and fantastically funny: Stephen Bjork, Steve Macone, Jeff Koen and Carolyn Riley

Boston comedian Steve Bjork (who works nationally as a headliner), popular Steve Macone (contributor to The Onion), Jeff Koen (America’s Funniest Home Videos) and Carolyn Riley will provide the side-splitting, smart and clean stand-up comedy at the Amazing Things Arts Center, 160 Hollis Street, Framingham, presented by Scamps Comedy. Admission includes light appetizers and champagne toast. Beer & Wine will be available. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets: $30 for members, $35 for non-members. For tickets, call (508) 405-2787 or go to AmazingThings.org.

One of the funniest observational humorists in Boston, Bjork has gone cross-country as a headliner, performing at clubs such as The Improv in Las Vegas, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, Hilarities in Orlando, Florida, Crackers in Indianapolis, Indiana, and several more. He’s shared the stage with acts including Dane Cook, Steven Wright, Dom Irrerra, Dave Chappelle, Gilbert Gottfried, Joe Rogan, Dana Gould and Tommy Chong. He also once opened for the legendary musical group The Platters. In recent years, he’s focused on spending more time in New England, working clubs, fundraisers and private shows for companies.

Macone, much requested since his 2013 performance at Amazing Things, is a talented comedian and writer who was featured on NBC’s Last Comic Standing earlier this year. He writes for the satirical website The Onion, and is a headlining comedian at colleges around the East Coast. Host of his own weekly show at The Burren in Davis Square, Somerville, he’s been a finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival, and had cartoons published in The New Yorker. He’s also performed on Comedy Central and at the prestigious “Comics Come Home” concert. A cross between the life of the party and the most nervous person in the room, Macone has entertained audiences across the US, Canada, Ireland and England. He has also been published in The New York Times, Boston Globe Magazine, Weekly Dig, Boston Phoenix and The Christian Science Monitor.

Koen has gained notoriety for his acting and voice work, and also performed stand-up comedy at theaters across the Northeast as the opener for Juston McKinney. His family also had a successful run on America’s Funniest Home Videos, an experience that he documents in his act. Although he’ll work “clean” on New Year’s Eve, his profane turn in the cult film Heavy Times gained him a small but avid following. “A guy from Sri Lanka wanted to visit me and stay at my house,” he said. “All he needed me to do was write a letter to the prime minister.” He’s also starred in Losing It, a comedy short that debuted at the New Hampshire Film Festival, in the web series Post Office Golf League, and the animated web series Man Servants.

Riley has performed at the 2015 Hampton Beach Comedy Festival and top clubs such as the Comedy Studio in Harvard Square. A student at the University of New Hampshire, she’s also opened for national touring acts on campus.
