Swampscott Man Accused Of Assault In Online Sale Of Barbell

Police say Adam Lebowitz, 21, of Swampscott, and an unidentified accomplice pulled a gun on a 49-year-old Andover man.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA —Swampscott police assisted Andover police in arresting a man accused of assault with a dangerous weapon after responding to an ad to buy a barbell from an Andover resident.

Police say Adam Lebowitz, 21, of Swampscott, and an unidentified accomplice pulled a gun on a 49-year-old Andover man after arranging to meet the victim in Andover. Swampscott police arrested Lebowitz on May 8.

Lebowitz was released on $15,000 bail. His arraignment was postponed to July 27 because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
