Flag football round-up: Red and Orange battle to a tie in the Super Mights
Flag football game summaries from the weekend of Oct. 3 and 4.
Tiny Mights
Kindergarten-1st grade
Blue Pride 13, Green Pride 0

Domenic Curreri opened the scoring with a long touchdown run for Blue, followed by a Cam Lanziero touchdown run late in the first half. Justin Harrington also had a long run, but was stopped just short of the end zone by a hustling Green defense. Blue defense had solid play up front from Nathan Wiggin, while both Gavyn and Shayne Welch played solid in the middle. Jason DiPalma made several open field flag pulls that helped turn away Green’s scoring opportunities.

2nd-3rd grade
Blue Pride 25, Green Pride 18
Green Pride jumped out to an early 12-0 lead, started by a long third down touchdown run. After a quick stop on defense courtesy of flag pulls by Caden Follet, Green’s Sean Callahan broke a long first down run for a touchdown. Blue pride took over from there, scoring the next three touchdowns. Cam Thompson knotted the game at 18 with Green’s third long touchdown run of the game midway through the second half. But a Blue Pride pick six gave them a lead they would not surrender. Green Pride’s Follet and Jackson Goldman (interception almost returned on an extra point attempt) played solid pass defense.
Red Pride 28, Silver Pride 14
Behind the solid quarterback play by Will Holloway, Red was able to hold off Silver for the victory. Joey Barletta had some key grabs for Red, while AnthonyDiFranco, William Fillmore, and Colin Durkin all played well for the victors. Silver had a strong second half, scoring a pair of touchdowns from Evan Deleon and Jack Rattey. Ben Christopher and Kyle Sandberg played well, with Sandberg adding a nifty conversion for Silver.
Silver Pride 28, Orange Pride 24
Silver came out on top in their second game of the day, a great game against the Orange Pride. Robert Welch paced Orange with two touchdowns, while Nathan Galanis, Andrew Ryder, and Benjamin Barrasso has solid games on offense. Miller and James Brooks had multiple flag tackles for Orange, while Michael Donahoe, Jared Mirisola and Dominic Capuano played excellent defense. Silver Pride’s Evan Deleon had spectacular runs, alongside Brady Schofield. Noah Sederquist played solid defense with a great flag pull, while Cameron Guender, David Benassi and Braydon Moran contributed in Silver’s winning effort.
Super Mights
4th-5th grade
Red Pride 24, Orange Pride 24
In a close affair, Jack Callahan starred for the Red Pride with three rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Luke Montejo hooked up with Andrew Estabrook for Red’s fourth touchdown on the day. On the defensive side of the ball, Cameron Heichman, Quinn Brown, Connor Broderick, Christian Rainone and Zachery Hayes all had multiple flags for the victors.
On the Orange Pride side, Michael Hill continued to shine at quarterback, leading his squad down the field in just two plays to start the scoring. After a completion to Tristan Lee, Hill hooked up with Brandon Contardi for the score. Ryan Thompson and Anthony Naghibi added touchdown runs, while a spectacular Blake Ryder finger tip grab from Hill rounded out the Orange scoring. Michael Connors and Paul Allen were blankets in their coverage, while Alex Naghibi and DJ Bresette provider key tackles.
Blue Pride 55, Green Pride 14
Blue Pride started out aggressively on defense with some solid flag pulls from Drew Rennell , Ryan Sorrentino and Drew Nestor. On the offensive side, Blue scored quickly courtesy of some hard-nosed running from Michael Parent. Quarterback Mathew Tramonte connected with Michael Carlson for a 35-yard touchdown reception. Tramonte added his first pick six of the season, and Cam Kearney picked up another Blue score with a 45-yard touchdown run to close out the half.
Green scored quickly in the second half, but Blue responded quickly with a Justin Magee touchdown run. Carlson added his second touchdown of the game, this time a pick six, while Jack Rennell took over at running back and notched his first touchdown of the season, a 45-yard score. Jimmy Holmes came in at quarterback and delivered a great touchdown pass to Nester for another score.
