Missing Tewksbury Goat Still on the Loose

He's been seen in Chelmsford lately, hanging out in the area since his escape from a farm and slaughterhouse in Tewksbury last month.

Three weeks after a goat escaped from a farm and slaughterhouse in Tewksbury, there have been more sightings of the animal right here in Chelmsford. The goat escaped on Friday, Dec. 26.

State Trooper Dustin Finch took to Twitter over the weekend to say the infamous goat keeps eluding troopers along Rte. 495 where he’s been grazing the area.

The elusive goat was first spotted in Chelmsford back on Jan. 1, when he was spotted in a residential backyard on McIntosh Road. The resident who spotted the animal tried to see if she could catch him, but he ran off into the woods behind her house.

The goat, said to weigh nearly 200 pounds, led a Lowell resident to spend nearly three hours that first night pursuing the goat. The goat made his way through an area of the city, while residents, as well as animal control officers and Lowell Police kept up the search. Despite being cornered a couple of times, the goat kept managing to evade his captors.

The goat continues to make headlines. He even has his own Twitter account @TheLowellGoat describing his escapades to which is now upwards of 1,100 followers.
