About Wamesit Assembly No. 88
Wamesit Assembly No. 88 is a local chapter of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Members include girls between the ages of 11 and 21 from Tewksbury, Lowell, Dracut, and other nearby towns. The members hold offices, conduct formal business meetings and ceremonies, participate in fun activities, and serve the community. In the past few years, the Assembly has performed volunteer work for the Jimmy Fund, the Joslin Diabetes Center, the Central Square non-profit theater, the Miracle Providers Northeast, and many other charities. One of the girls’ favorite volunteer projects is wrapping holiday gifts for children directly impacted by HIV and AIDS with the Miracle Providers Northeast in Lowell, MA. When the girls are not volunteering, they enjoy a number of fun activities such as laser tag, board game and movie nights, and arts and crafts.
Constituted in 1955, the Assembly is sponsored by Wamesit Lodge, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and is a subordinate assembly of the Grand Assembly of Massachusetts (www.massiorg.net) and of the Supreme Assembly (www.goRainbow.org) headquartered in McAlester, Oklahoma. The members meet twice a month at the Masonic Hall in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. For more information email wamesit88@gmail.com or call Mom Tommy Tashjian at 978-930-6219.
