Tewksbury Police Launch Community Engagement Unit
The unit intends to enhance public safety and trust by connecting law enforcement and residents.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury Police Department has launched a Community Engagement Unit with the goal of creating better connections between police and the community.
Two patrol sergeants and three patrol officers will participate in the unit in addition to their regular assignments, according to a police statement.
The unit intends to enhance public safety and trust by connecting law enforcement and residents through strategic programs, education, and dissemination of public information.

"Our goal is for our department and residents learn more about one another, and better understand one another's concerns and challenges," Police Chief Ryan Columbus said in a statement. "We are always looking for ways to better serve our community, increase positive interactions, identify problems, and work with residents.”
