Blue started out with the ball but was unsuccessfully with the snap on the 1st 3 tries of the game, they ended up punting the ball to Red. On Red’s 1st play on offense, they broke to the outside and scored 1st to jump out to a quick 8-0 lead. As the 1st quarter continued, Blue offense was trying hard to adjust and move the ball down the field with some solid running from Kenny Ryder (11 carries for 45 yards), Ryan Fleming (9 carries for 75 yards) Nick DeGloria (7 carries for 40 yards), Vincent Ciancio (2 carries for 8 yards) and Cameron Kearney (1 carry for 6 yards). These runs were supported by the offense line made up of Max Mattuchio, Joseph Barletta, Keith Johnston, Jason Svendsen and Alex Dellorusso. As the 1st half came to an end, Red held the lead still at 8-0. In the 2nd half, Blue started on defense and had some outstanding hits/tackles from Andrew Candeloro, Timmy Bradley, William Holloway and Liam Kelly. Both Team Red and Blue continued to stop the run so the passing game came into play. Late in the 4th, QB Nick DeGloria made a great pass to Brady McHugh who broke a few tackles and went for 40 yards, this great run was led by some “down field blocking” by Braydon Aylward, Ryan Benchater and Jason Lavoie. The last 25 yards was collected by McKay putting the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter. The Red defense held off the passing attack of the Blue and managed to stifle the run to capture the second shutout of the season. The secondary of Bradley, McKay, Bozek, Fleming and Ethan Exilhomme bent but never broke while facing numerous passing attempts. Tewksbury Blue 0 Tewksbury Red 18
The two local teams faced each other on a picture perfect day for football. The Red team came into the game with a 3 – 0 record and faced the Blue with a 2-1 record on the season. All week these players knew it would be a contest. The Blue team was pretty banged up losing two starters to concussions prior to the game and knew they had to have a mistake free game. That was not the case during this contest and the Red proved too powerful on defense and stifled the explosiveness of the Blue offense during the day. Both teams played well but in the end the Red’s offense took advantage of mistakes from the Blue and managed to score three touchdowns on the day. The well-coached Red team had an excellent defensive game plan that saw the Blue team struggle during the contest never really getting off the ground. Lexcia St. Cyr had an excellent day for the Blue on both offense and defense. She had support from Alex Newcomb, Owen Hernandez, Mike Duggan, and Asa Deroche. Drew Timmons replace Cam Paolillo as Quarterback after Cam was hurt Thursday night at practice and is out for a few weeks due to a concussion. Drew had a solid performance under the circumstances. Daniel Lightfoot, Rory Power, Mike Kelly, Sean Fahey and Hunter DeLonais all played well. Sean Kaiser, Nick Tracy, and Richie Lavargna had some excellent plays on defense. In the end the Red proved too powerful for the Blue team today. The Blue face another explosive team in Lowell this Saturday at Livingston in a must win match to keep their playoff hopes alive.

7th & 8th Grade
Tewksbury Red Pride JV 26 – Andover 6
The Tewksbury Red Pride JV team improved its record to 2-1 after a very impressive 26-6 victory over Andover. This victory was not only impressive because Tewksbury dominated the game from start to finish, but also considering the fact that Tewksbury’s JV team is comprised of all 7th graders while the Andover squad was comprised of all 8th graders. Tewksbury jumped out right from the start. After forcing a punt on Andover’s first possession, Tewksbury went on a long time consuming drive which included a nice 14 yard reception by Matt Rosemond down to the 1 yard line. Shane Aylward finished off the drive followed by Nolan Timmons punching in the conversion for a 8-0 lead. The big boys upfront (Rob Kimtis, Mike Woodford, James Makenzie, Ryan Keane, Sean Oliveira, Mike Rosa, Kyle Scrooc) exerted their will on the Andover defensive front on the next drive which featured big gains by Jacob Bragg and Richie Markwarth. It was Jake Kaiser who finished it off in style with an 11 yard scamper to the end zone putting Tewksbury up 14-0 at the half. The dynamic duo of Timmons to Aylward hooked up again for another long TD pass and catch striking this time from 70 yards out. On its final scoring drive it was Evan Mantel’s turn to show off his arm as he passed the offense right down the field before hitting Tyler Keough in the end zone for a 12 yard hook-up. Andover added a late score to make the final 26-6. Not to be outdone, the defense came to play today and frustrated Andover’s attack all game long with a total team effort. Upfront it was Kenny Wilson, Brodie Tirrell, Paul Manzi, Pat Letourneau, Anthony Iannacci, Matt Houghton, Owen Gilligan, Pat Fleming, Jared Doyle, Aidan Doherty, Anthony Diminico, Anthony Desisto, Ryan Briley, Matt Brennan and Dustan Bere all doing the job. The defensive backfield of Sean Phaneuf, Nicky Iannacci, Connor Charron and Joey Branchaud were kept busy with Andover’s spread formations and passing attack but they more than rose to the occasion. The Red Pride will look to keep the momentum going next week as they host Timberlane and they hope for the return of some key injured players Ryan Day, Santion Garofalo and JP Murphy.
