Duty to Country is one of the pillars that the Boy Scouts is built upon. Our Troop recently traveled to the Niagara area of New York to learn first hand about the history of our country. The trip included a visit to Old Fort Niagara, the site of President Teddy Roosevelt’s Inauguration and the historic Niagara falls. The trip was capped off with a stay on the Navy cruiser the USS Littlerock, where the scouts got to learn about the history of that ship as well as the destroyer USS The Sullivans (named after the five Sullivan brothers who died aboard the USS Juneau when it was hit by a torpedo during WWII) and the submarine USS Croaker.

Funds raised through this plant sale help defray the cost of trips such as the Troops trip to Niagara Supporting Troop 47 will enable the troop to continue to combine educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
