TYF Roundup: Sept. 17 updates from tackle and flag football
Tewksbury youth tackle is off to a blazing start, while a number of great flag football games took place over the weekend

Tewksbury Blue 18-6
Tewksbury Blue opened the season with a fine defensive effort, kickstarted by a Will Holloway interception return for a TD on the third play of the game. Joey Barletta, Anthony DiFranco, and Jason DiPalma pitched in on the defensive side with numerous tackles for losses. Tyler Bourgea got the offense going with some fine running on Blue’s opening drive, carrying the ball four times for 65 yards. Jason Lavoie capped the drive with a six-yard TD run up the gut. Blue quarterback Vincent Ciancio rushed for Blue’s final score, an 11-yard scamper after completing five passes amid an impressive 70-yard drive. Some great offensive line work by William O’Neill, Zach Pagliccia, and Logan Itri kept the ball moving all game for Blue, who will square off against Tewksbury Green at Balou-DellRossi field at noon on Saturday.

Tewksbury Green 42, Timberlane 0
Sharing was the name of the game once again for 2-0 Tewksbury Green, with 16 different players running the ball and seven different players finding the end zone. The offensive line work of Jeb Brooks, Miller Brooks, Shane Spurr, Anthony Monteiro, Cam Kingston, and Ethan Martins was the cornerstone of the impressive offensive showing. Tyler Sanon had a pair of touchdowns and over 120 yards rushing to lead the attack. Jack Lightfoot’s eight-tackle performance highlighted a stout defensive effort, which included an interception, forced fumble, and fumble recovery. Cashon Rath and Nicky DeSiston also had strong games on the defensive side of the football for the undefeated Green.
Junior Division
5th & 6th Grade
Tewksbury Red Pride A 32, Exeter West 6
Behind Nick DeGloria’s impressive offensive performance (2 passing TDs, rushing TD, punt return for a TD), the Junior Red Pride squad moved to 2-0 on the young season. Mike Sullivan added a pair of receiving touchdowns, one a 30-yard strike from the arm of Um’Ari Sensey. Matt Duggan’s stellar 65-yard catch and run for a TD capped off the strong offensive showing, while Colin Fraser had some long gains on the ground for Red Pride. On the defensive side, standout performances by Sean Hirtle, Cooper Lemieux, Jack Donovan, and Justin Darrigo held Exeter at bay throughout the contest.
Tewksbury Exeter West 28, Red Pride B 8
The Red Pride B team ran into a tough Exeter West defense. The Red Pride could not get much momentum on the day, but got solid runs from Hunter Johnson, Cam Kearney, and Ajani Sensey. The defense kept Red Pride in the game early on with good tackling from Alex Aborgast, Damien Oritz and Logan Helm. The lone score on the day came from Sensey, ripping the ball from the Exeter West running back and returning it 85 yards for the touchdown. Tim Bradley connected with Ortiz in the back of the end zone for the extra point.
Tewksbury Flag Football
K-2 Division
Black 31, Maroon 18
Cam Lanzeiro’s receiving TD from Jason DiPalma helped Black pull away in a tightly contested game against Maroon. Lanziero added a pair of rushing scores on the day, while Aaron Annese added another TD on the ground. DiPalma had a key interception return for a touchdown, as Vincent Manoloulis had a solid game on both sides of the ball for Black.
Orange 26, Green 20
In a tight contest, Orange was able to hold off Green with strong runs from Michael Cardoso and Trevor Hall, who took the ball the full length of the field for a score. Ryan Callahan and Jack Ryan added touchdowns for Orange, who had strong defensive plays with important flag pulls from the entire team. On the Green side, Gavyn Welch, Henry Bosworth, and Shayne Welch each ran the ball effectively with touchdowns. Green also had a great defensive stand from Liam Kelly, who held the Green offense to short gains.
Light Blue 18, Purple 7
Luc Bouchie led the way for the victors on the field with strong play and leadership. Paul Ryan had a long touchdown run to compliment his solid defensive play, while Andrew Burke put forth a solid effort across the board for Light Blue.
Navy 26, Gold 6
Johnny Pasquariello had an early TD run on Gold's first drive, but Navy Blue's defense settled in and shut Gold out the rest of the way. Gold was able to keep the game close in the second half with great defensive efforts by Ben Shepard, Tyler Frasca, and Justin Reynolds.

3rd-4th Grade Division
Red 37, Orange 12
Phil Lombardi’s four rushing touchdowns paced Red in their first win of the season. Caden Follett made a spectacular catch and run for a Red TD, while Logan Goldman scampered in for a long score. Jackson Goldman continued his stellar play on defense with numerous flag pulls and a key interception. On the Orange side of the ball, Evan Festa had two long catches in a row, the second going for a TD from Colin Durkin. DJ Bourque added a touchdown for Orange with a nifty catch from Noah Brooks.
Black 28, Navy 12
Black pulled away down the stretch in a tight game. Michael Devlin had a key interception return for a touchdown, while Hunter Holloway played strong defense and executed a key two-point conversion on a pass to Michael Macauda. Macauda played strong on both sides of the ball, along with Owen Hiltz.

Maroon 26, Royal Blue 8
5th-6th Grade Division
Blue 47, Maroon 0
Blue got off to a fast start and didn’t look back, led by captains Colby Flahive and Ben Piccolo in the impressive win. Kyle Cummings had two touchdowns and an interception, while James Carroll had a touchdown to get Blue on the board early. Nick Kearney added an interception return for a Blue touchdown.
Black 26, Navy 12
Christian Rainone led a Black squad of four different QBs with four touchdowns in a win over a fast Navy team. Black used a mixture of deep and short passes, including a clutch pass late from Rainone to Lucas Adams, who rumbled up field to keep the Black offense on the field. Jimmy Holmes had a fine game on the defensive side with numerous flag pulls. Nathan Galanis led the Navy team on the ground with multiple long runs and a score. Michael Hill and Noah Russo each had TD passes for Navy, while Scott Lightburn added his first touchdown of the season.
Orange 24, Red 18
Red played hard with only five players active, but Orange was able to pull away for the victory. Luke Montejo, Matthew Flynn, Jack Callahan, Justin Magee, and Connor Broderick all shared the game ball for the Red squad.
