UPDATES: Tewksbury Youth Football round-up from weekend of Oct. 1
It was a wet one on Saturday, but Tewksbury battled hard across the gridiron in impressive fashion. Here are updates across the leagues.

Winnacunnet 8, Tewksbury Blue 6
Tewksbury Blue fought mightily in sloppy conditions and held a slim 6-0 lead late in the game, but Winnacunnet was able to put together a touchdown drive with five minutes left in the game to take the victory. Blue was tenacious in the trenches, causing six fumbles, four of them recovered by Tyler Crawford, Jake Burns, William O’Neil, and Jason DiPalma. Nick Kearney added a key interception with two minutes left in the first half, setting up a 32-yard touchdown run by Vincent Ciancio. Ciancio had 60 yards on the day on six carries. Blue will try to get back in the win column at Timberlane on Saturday.

Junior Division
5th & 6th Grade
Tewksbury Red Pride A 36, Manchester 20
In their toughest test of the season, Tewksbury turned around a halftime deficit to remain undefeated by relying on all three phases of the game with some key play from their rookies. Nick DeGloria shined for 4-0 Red Pride, who accounted for 28 of the team’s 36 points, including a pair of touchdown passes and an interception return for a TD. Umari Seney scored a pair of touchdowns, Richie Bongiorno notched a receiving score, and Colin Frasier added a two-point conversion to round out Red’s scoring attack. Red’s defense shut down the passing game once they settled in, with four interceptions by four different players - Mike Sullivan, Matt Duggan, Seney, and DeGloria. First-year player Alex Arborgast had a terrific game on the ground, while Justin Darrigo (3 tackles), Jonah Bennet, and Ryan Mottolo shined for Red.
Tewksbury Red Pride B 38, Manchester 6
Tewksbury came out of the gates flying and never looked back, with Ajani Seney (2 TDs) scoring on a 41-yard scamper on the team’s opening drive with Cam Kearney adding the extra points. From there, it was Kenny Ryder’s tough running and two touchdowns that highlighted an impressive offensive effort. Kearney added a touchdown of his own to go with Hunter Johnson’s two-point conversion, while on the defensive side, Alex Arborgast and Trevor LaFave had multiple tackles for loss. Mike Parisi, Charles Bartolone, and Jacob Chase also had strong defensive games, to complement the blocking of James Cappiello and Braydon Alyward on the offensive side.
Tewksbury Flag Football
K-2 Division
Purple 18, Orange 10
Orange had an outstanding effort on defense, including a safety flag pull from Beckett Anderson, but Purple was able to pull away for the win. Ryan Callahan had a huge play for Orange’s only score on the day, as teammate Robert Bjorkgren added a highlight with his first breakout run of the season.
Black 42, Red 30
In a high-scoring affair, Black used a balanced offense attack to hold off Red, including three two-point conversions through the air. Cam Lanziero had two rushing TDs for the victors, while Jason DiPalma and Aaron Annese added a pair each of their own. Brayden Collado had consistent flag pulls to pace the Red defense, while Justin Leeds had a clutch flag pull to help secure the win.
Green 23, Gold 15
Shayne Welch and Henry Bosworth had a pair of touchdowns apiece to lead Green to victory. Strong defensive efforts from Liam Kelly and Max Curley helped to lock down Green’s first victory of the season.
Light Blue 13, Navy Blue 12
In a tightly contested battle, Light Blue was able to hold off Navy with a strong game on both sides of the ball. Luc Bouchi, Dom Parasi, and Evan Brothers led the way for the Light Blue squad.

3rd-4th Grade Division
Red 33, Navy Blue 12
Zach Russo’s two touchdowns, one on a key pick-six, paced Red to their third victory in a row. Jack Rattey showed slick moves and great hands, notching a pair of touchdown catches, while Philip Lombardi added a long touchdown run to round out the Red scoring. Caden Follett had a clutch flag pull during a second half goal line stand in Red’s victory.

5th-6th Grade Division
Red 40, Navy Blue 12
Jack Callahan took the first play of the game to the house, and Red’s offense kept the momentum going for the victory. Ryan Thompson had three touchdowns on the day to go along with Matt Flynn’s two TD passes and a Justin Magee scoring reception. Luke Montejo and Connor Broderick both came up with key interceptions. Team Red improves to 3-1 on the season, and will face a tough, undefeated Royal Blue squad this weekend.
Royal Blue 48, Black 19
Royal continued their winning ways with great teamwork on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Zach Hayes had five TD passes on the day, while Blue teammate Cam Kearney had repeated runs for multiple yards. Defensively, Nick Kearney had numerous flag pulls as Sam MacMillan came up with an incredible interception for Blue. Ben Piccolo added a pick-six late in the game to cap off the Royal win.
