The Angel Fund for ALS Research to Host Book Signing on Wednesday, May 17th at the Lakeside Inn, Wakefield
The Angel Fund for ALS Research will host a book sale and signing of Last Things, A Graphic Memoir of Loss and Love, the true story of how one family copes with the devastating effects of catastrophic illness, on Wednesday, May 17th at the Lakeside Inn, 595 North Avenue in Wakefield, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Author Marissa Moss, best known for her Amelia’s Notebook series, will talk to attendees about the real-like experiences which led her to write and illustrate the book.
Last Things chronicles the story, in words and drawings, of how a family managed to survive a terrible loss and grow strong despite it. Last Things offers an intimate and profound window into heartbreak, helping us to grow in important ways—ultimately, we are transformed through the love and loss and art within its pages.
After returning home from a year abroad, Moss's husband, Harvey, was diagnosed with ALS. The disease progressed quickly and Moss was soon consumed with caring for Harvey, while trying to keep life as normal as possible for her young children. This is not a story about the redemptive power of terminal illness, it is a story of resilience.
