Chess wants to become your Fur-ever Valentine

Chester (aka Chess) is a handsome tuxedo with white toes and boots – and check out those incredible, long whiskers! He was a stray, recently rescued by PAWS. He is learning to accept love from humans and has been enjoying monitoring the cafe from a shelf up high. The more we get to know him, the more we become increasingly smitten! An adorable 1-year-old bundle of love, Chess is a calm but timid boy who needs your approach to be slow and patient. He has no medical conditions that we are aware of. Once you’ve won his heart, he will activate his purrs and show off his luxurious belly! Chess prefers light pets and mild face rubs and will make biscuits on his special blanket, or in the air, when received. His sensitivity also means that he can feel a little overwhelmed at times and will go to recharge in his comfy bin and return when he’s ready. If you want to give Chess a Churu treat, he’d be eating out of your hand!

The Kitty Cat Café and Adoption Lounge, located in Peabody at 108 Newbury Street (Rte 1 southbound), is a 501c3 non-profit cafe dedicated to finding cats their fur-ever home. Formed as a partnership between PAWS and Pals Animal Life Savers, it provides an alternative for some of our adoptable cats who may be more comfortable in a cage-free environment. This partnership benefits both of our organizations, but especially the cats as the Café offers a relaxed atmosphere and space for both cats and people to interact or just to hang out! Many cats have successfully found their loving forever homes through this collaborative effort. Its regular hours are Thursday-Saturday 10am-3pm, but they may be open on some additional mornings and evenings depending on staffing availability. If you are interested in meeting Chess or any other PAWS cat, fill out an adoption application, available on the PAWS website, and a coordinator will contact you. No fees are charged until an adoption is finalized. Many wonderful cats also can be viewed on the PAWS website, pawswakefieldma.org, or on PAWS’ Facebook page or in a picture book in the PAWS office.
