Theatre To Go, Inc. to present ALL IN THE TIMING by David Ives this weekend & next at Greenwood Union Church  

All in the Timing is a collection of one-act plays by the American playwright David Ives written between 1987 and 1993. It was first published in 1994, with a collection of six plays; however, the updated collection contains fourteen. Winner of the John Gassner Playwriting Award, this critically acclaimed, award-winning evening of comedies combines wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun. Theatre To Go is presenting six of the one-act plays including: 

“The Universal Language” involves a man offering to teach people a new "language" for a rather large sum of money. His first pupil is a shy, stuttering girl who hopes that this new language will help her overcome her speech problems and let her meet people. 

“Philadelphia” takes place in a coffee shop where the staff and patrons are stuck in different "cities" or states of mind. The person in a Los Angeles is perpetually carefree, the person in a Chicago feels worse than dead, and the person in a Philadelphia gets the opposite of what he asks for. 

“Foreplay or the Art of the Fugue” shows us three couples playing miniature golf on a date. The men try to use the same “dating formula” to impress their dates, but with varying success.

“Sure Thing” is about the possibilities that exist when two people meet in a crowded cafe. It starts with the question "is this seat taken?" and the scenario changes with the answers.

“Mere Mortals” is about three construction workers taking their lunch break on the high-rise building on which they’re working. During lunch, the men each reveal something unusual about themselves that they’ve never told anyone, not even their wives.

“Variations on the Death of Trotsky” is about Leon Trotsky. He has a mountain climber's axe smashed/buried into his skull by his communist gardener, yet remembers nothing. Mrs. Trotsky reads to him about his death from the encyclopedia. However, the variations on Trotsky’s death are all imagined in his mind.

Theatre To Go’s production features several local people including: David Bojarczuk, Michael Campo, Ron Cook, Karen Hoff, Joan Luz Holt, Travis Joyce, Amy Joy Laffin, Michael Levy, Greg Luzitano, Michael Molineaux and Chris Tinkham. The production is directed by Johnbarry Green of Wakefield and Stage Managed by Melissa Ehlers of Melrose. 

Performances are January 27, 28 and February 3 & 4 at 8:00pm and February 5 at 2:00pm at the Greenwood Union Church, Corner of Oak & Main Streets, Wakefield, MA.
