The Third Annual Wakefield Holiday Stroll

'Tis the Season! The town of Wakefield is putting on several holiday events as Xmas nears. Here is a rundown of what's happening in town for Santa's big day!

Third Annual Holiday Stroll

The third annual “Tis the Season” Holiday Stroll scheduled for Saturday, December 3 will start at the Americal Civic Center on Main St. at 3 p.m., where there will be ample parking in the Galvin Middle School parking lot.  

The public will be greeted at the Holiday Stroll Welcoming Center where they can pick up a Holiday Stroll bag that will include a map of participating shops along Main and Albion Streets, as well as qualify you for special offers at participating restaurants/merchants throughout the remainder of December.

Just look for the “Show Us Your Bag” decal in participating restaurants.

Bring Your Favorite Holiday Hats

As part of the stroll, take part in the Holiday Hat Parade where everyone is invited to join in. Show your holiday spirit by wearing your favorite or specially designed holiday hat.  

The parade will form at 2:45 p.m. (again, on Dec. 3) at the Americal Civic Center, starting promptly at 3 p.m. The parade will be led by the Wakefield High School Marching Band, go down Main St. the Rockery, and end at the Beebe Library steps where they will play selected holiday tunes.  

Fast, Easy, Direct Mail to the North Pole

It’s never too early to start your wish list. Kids, post your letter to Santa at our super secret, super secure mailbox! Simply drop your wish list off at Santa’s Mailbox. Look for the location of the box on the map given the day of the stroll (Dec. 3) or go to the Wakefield EPC website where the location will be posted as they season rolls around.

Stroll, Shop, Dine

Downtown Wakefield will be lit with holiday trees, roaming minstrels, vocal groups singing your favorite holiday favorites. There will be holiday treats being offered throughout the downtown area from chestnuts roasting, popcorn popping, steaming hot cider and hot chocolate. The shops will be decked out to welcome shoppers into their stores. There will be holiday characters walking the streets to greet children. Again, all this takes place on Dec. 3.

Entertainment

There will be entertainment at many indoor & outdoor venues along Main St. and Albion St. You can listen to DoWop, performances by Wakefield High School students, choral groups, Choir, Improve group and various dance groups capturing the interest of children and adults alike.

Have you ever wanted to see someone created something beautiful out of ice; well now’s your chance. There will be a local ice sculptor doing just that. The Wakefield EPC continues to seek additional entertainment for the Holiday Stroll.
