The HOME Act signed in as a new law

State Representative Donald H. Wong, (front row, right) was among the legislators who were at the State House when Governor Charlie Baker recently signed into law An Act relative to housing, operations, military service, and enrichment, known as the HOME Act. This new law includes a provision sponsored by Representative Wong that gives communities across the Commonwealth the option of establishing a Veterans relief fund to assist their local veterans, using revenues generated through a voluntary donation check-off box included on their municipal real estate and excise tax forms. The idea is modeled after similar programs Representative Wong sponsored on behalf of the towns of Wakefield and Saugus. Following the signing, Representative Wong said. “I’m proud to support our veterans, and I thank them for their service to our country.”
