Info Released On 3rd Annual Wakefield Porchfest
The townwide celebration of live, local music is scheduled for this summer.
WAKEFIELD, MA — Wakefield Porchfest will return for its third annual townwide celebration of live, local music Aug. 29 with a rain date scheduled for Aug. 30.
The exact time for the end-of-summer event has not yet been determined, but organizers say additional details — including performance times and registration information for bands and hosts — will be announced later this year, according to a statement from organizers.
Coordinated by a volunteer committee, Porchfest features musical acts performing on porches and at small businesses across Wakefield. The 2026 event builds on the success of the previous two years, which each drew more than 100 musical acts at 50 to 60 host locations throughout town.

“The final weekend of August will be the perfect time for an end-of-summer celebration of live local music, and an opportunity for our community to come together before the start of school and the busy fall season,” committee member Nate Johnson said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to getting work under way to make this the best live music event in the region.”
Earlier this year, Porchfest co-founder Ike Adams received the Community Service Award from the Wakefield Human Rights Commission during the town’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 19. In his remarks, Adams praised the volunteers, musicians, hosts, sponsors and fans who have helped fill the town with music.

“My goal moving forward is simply: more music, more volume, more often,” Adams said. “If any of this sounds like something you’ve been considering, this is your invitation.”
Registration for hosts and musical acts will open later this spring. Residents and businesses interested in hosting or performing can sign up for updates at the Wakefield Porchfest website. Those interested in sponsorship opportunities can email sponsor@wakefieldporchfest.com.
The program is funded in part by a grant from the Wakefield Arts Council, supported by the Mass Cultural Council, along with contributions and in-kind support from local businesses and residents.
According to organizers in Ithaca, which launched the first Porchfest in 2007, more than 200 communities nationwide now host similar music-focused events.
