Lewis Kicks Off Wakefield Arm of Re-election Campaign on Thursday
The reception will take place at the Dockside.

State Senator Jason Lewis announced that he will be kicking off the Wakefield arm of his re-election campaign at an upcoming reception in Wakefield. The reception will take place at the Dockside, 1099 Main Street, Wakefield, on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Senator Lewis was elected in a special election on April 1 of this year to succeed now-Congresswoman Katherine Clark. In the short time since his special election victory, Senator Lewis has delivered on a variety of policy victories for the communities of the 5th Middlesex and for Wakefield specifically, including:

- successfully championing inclusion of a Chapter 70 Education Foundation Budget Review Commission in the FY15 state budget, which will enable a careful and thorough examination of current educational needs and best practices, an important step toward achieving more adequate and equitable funding for our public schools;
- leading the successful effort for an amendment to the FY15 state budget to include $250,000 for the Mass in Motion program (in which the town of Wakefield participates) that promotes opportunities for healthier eating and more active living in our communities;
- helping to secure in the transportation bond bill signed into law by Governor Patrick $985,000 for traffic mitigation and construction of pedestrian-friendly, bicyclist-friendly, and motorist-friendly improvements to Main Street in Wakefield; and,
- helping to secure in the environmental bond bill signed into law by Governor Patrick $1 million for the creation of a flood management feasibility study for the Saugus River in Wakefield.
