Lewis Strong Supporter Of Ballot Question 3

Wants to make it clear he stands firmly with our transgender friends and neighbors and will be voting YES to preserve the current law.

A release from the campaign of State Senator Jason Lewis:

The recent State Senate debate between myself and my Republican opponent included a number of vigorous exchanges about important issues affecting our communities. The debate highlighted clear differences in values and priorities between myself and Ms. Calvo-Bacci.

I will never apologize for standing up for the rights of those in our society who are vulnerable, marginalized, or suffering from discrimination. I will always fight for worker rights, racial justice, gender equality, and LGBTQ civil rights. Every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

I have been very clear about my position on Ballot Question 3 that seeks to repeal a state law protecting our transgender residents from discrimination. I stand firmly with our transgender friends and neighbors and will be voting YES to preserve the current law.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for my opponent who, when asked her position on this important civil rights issue during the debate, pandered to right-wing Republicans. This is not leadership. The voters of our district deserve better.

I am now calling on Ms. Calvo-Bacci to make it clear on which side she stands and to condemn the vile campaign ad that was recently released by the group behind this ballot question. This ad is false fear mongering at its worst and should have no place in our civil discourse.
