Update: More Photos Released of Suspect from Robbery at Salem Variety
Wakefield Police have released five photos of the man who robbed the Salem Variety Store at knife point on Jan. 17, 2012.
Wakefield Police have released five photos of the man who robbed the Salem Variety Store at knife point on Jan. 17, 2012: three from the actual robbery, and two from the East Boston Savings Bank in Lynnfield, where the man was reportedly seen within an hour of the robbery.
According to witnesses and surveillance video footage, the supsect entered the Salem Street Variety Store, at 222 Salem Street at approximately 6:20 p.m. on January 17.
Police said the immediately walked behind the counter, held a knife to the side of the clerk's head and demanded money from the register. The suspect took out an undetermined amount of cash, then went running out the door. Police said it was unclear whether the suspect got into a car or left on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20's, approximately 5’8”, 160 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and white sneakers. Police are currently investigating.
Police believe the same party from the variety store robbery was seen at the Eastern Bank on Salem Street in Lynnfield about an hour before our robbery. Police said the subject did not rob the bank, but appeared suspicious, and did not complete a transaction.
