Town Administrator Stephen Maio and Town Accountant Kevin Gill said Veteran’s Services is their “favorite budget” as this year’s request is $6,826 lower than last year, whereas the other five budgets averaged two percent higher than last year’s numbers.
Maio lauded the town’s continued partnership with Melrose and Saugus to support the veterans.

“We have a great return on our investment,” he said. “The outreach is much better.”
The Board of Health budget came in at $205,367, an increase of $11,389.
Gill said that was partially the result of a $6,647 jump in the professional services line item, which was shared with Reading and Melrose last year.
