Retired Wakefield Police Officer Passes Due to Illness
Area departments offered their condolences Monday.

WAKEFIELD, MA—The Wakefield Police Department announced the death of one of their own Monday.
Wakefield police announced Monday that retired officer Albert Sarafian passed away after a lengthy illness late Saturday. Sarafian served on the Wakefield force for more than 30 years.

Sarafian retired in 2009, but stayed on as a special police officer in 2001, after 29 years of service as a full-time police officer and two years as a reserve officer. He was also a United States Army veteran.
