Road Rage Incident, Drug Trafficking Arrest: Wakefield January Police Report

WAKEFIELD, MA—Wakefield Police released their January report on Feb. 10. Here are some of the highlights from their report.
On Jan. 5, Police responded to a road rage incident in which one of the parties allegedly brandished a hand gun. The suspect allegedly held up a hand gun when the two parties were stopped in traffic on Vernon street. Officers later detained the suspect and located a firearm in the vehicle. The suspect was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon and improper storage of a firearm.
Authorities arrested 29-year-old Luis De Jesus Castro of Lowell for drug trafficking on Jan. 15 after a lengthy investigation. Detectives located 100 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle with a street value of approximately $7,000. De Jesus was charged with trafficking cocaine, operating with a suspended liscense, possessing a false license, and arrestee furnishing a false name/social security number.

A listee on the U.S. Marshall’s “Fugitive of the Week” list for the state of New Hampshire was arrested on Main Street in Wakefield after police were notified on Jan. 26 and executed warrants. Frederick Cote was arrested in MA for the armed robbery of a jewelry store, but was released on bail on Jan. 13. Warrants were confirmed and Cote was taken into custody without incident.
24 motor vehicle crashes were reported, with three each on Water Street, North Avenue and Main Street. There were also 334 total citations, seven or 2.1 percent were arrests, 34 or 10 percent were civil citations, 12 or 3.6 percent were complaints, and 279 or 83.3 percent were warnings.
