The Savings Bank donates to the ‘Eat Local’ lunch pilot program
The Savings Bank recently made a $3,000 donation to the John J. McCarthy Senior Center for its 'Eat Local' lunch pilot program

The Savings Bank recently made a $3,000 donation to the John J. McCarthy Senior Center for its ‘Eat Local’ lunch pilot program. With the Bank’s support, local seniors received fresh, nutritious and well-balanced lunches at the senior center this fall from local restaurants during the seven-week pilot program. According to the Wakefield Council on Aging Executive Director Judy Luciano, lunch attendance tripled on the day the lunch was served each week, with everyone enjoying the opportunity to try different restaurants. Local restaurants that participated in the pilot program were instrumental in providing the meals at a reasonable cost. The program is expected to start up again in February 2018.
