In addition to mail-in options, in-person early voting will take place at Town Hall, located at 1 Lafayette Street, during the following times:
- Saturday, August 22, 2020: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Sunday, August 23, 2020: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Monday, August 24, 2020: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 25, 2020: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 26, 2020: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, August 27, 2020: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Friday, August 28, 2020: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
In-person voting on September 1 is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Galvin Middle School, located at 525 Main Street. Knowing your precinct allows for a quicker check-in. Residents can easily lookup their precincts using this online tool.

Vote-by-Mail Option
Voting by mail is available to all registered voters in 2020. The Secretary of State’s Office Elections Division will be mailing an application to every registered voter in Massachusetts on July 15, 2020. The application will be used to request a ballot for the September 1, 2020 State Primary Election and November 3, 2020 Presidential Election.
It is important to note that any voter registered as “Unenrolled” (commonly referred to as “Independent”) must specify on the application which ballot they want mailed to them, i.e., Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green-Rainbow. This application is also available online.
Submit Your Application
- Once complete, the vote-by-mail application should be submitted to the Office of the Town Clerk in Town Hall, located at 1 Lafayette Street in Wakefield.
- To apply for a State Primary ballot, this application must arrive at the Clerk's Office by August 26.
- For the November 3 Presidential Election, submit your application by October 28.
In order to ensure that every registered voter receives an application, Town Clerk Sheeran will also include an application in August's Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department mailing.
Voter Registration and Party Affiliation ChangesBetsy Sheeran, Town Clerk, will be accepting voter registration(s) as well as “change of party affiliation” until August 22 at 5 p.m. People may register to vote in person at the office of the Town Clerk as well as on-line.
