Storm Caused Few Power Difficulties In Wakefield Area

Despite two feet of snow and strong wind gusts, Wakefield had no significant power outage problems or public safety hazards to report.

The biggest snow storm in recent memory dumped more than two feet of snow on the Wakefield area, but it caused little in the way of blackouts or public safety hazards.

Wakefield Municipal Gas & Electric reported over the weekend that its personnel would begin snow removal work on Sunday. Also on Sunday morning, Fire Chief Michael Sullivan told Wakefield Patch that there were no reported outages at the time.

According to the National Weather Service, Wakefield received 27.5 inches of snow.

On Sunday, the forecast calls for a high near 35 with a low around 15 and clear skies. Monday’s forecast calls for a wintry mix and rain while the rest of the week looks clear with highs in the 30s.
