Student and adult Directors of The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield gathered to present reports of the concluding year, to elect their slate of officers and board of directors, and to hear of plans for the upcoming year at the organization’s 56th Annual Meeting. The members enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner catered by Anne Giambarresi of House Calls Catering. Beautiful floral centerpieces were designed and donated by Rosanne Phillips of Wakefield. Lovely dinner music was arranged through WHS Visual & Performing Arts Director Tom Bankert, and provided by WHS students Peter Crump, Gavin Frey, Soren Helhoski, Jackson Kehoe, Abby MacDonald, and Noah Sellers.
The Nominating Committee, chaired by Faith Hodgkins, welcomed four new directors, Patti Doren, Jim Joly, Denise Murray, and Gayle Wettach. The Executive Officers for the upcoming year will include, Cathy Donovan, President; Jay Pinette, Vice President; Jim Guarino, Financial Vice President; Jay Landers, Jr., Treasurer; Geri Rowe, Secretary; Jean Hall, Financial Secretary; and Frank McLean, Auditor. All were warmly received by the membership.
Reports from Officers and Committee Chairs chronicled an exciting and successful year for The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield. The Committee reports highlighted the closing year’s activities and presented plans for the upcoming year. Emily Attaya, WHS ’17, speaking on behalf of the TSF Student Directors, reported on the work of the student directors during the previous academic year and promised similar successes for 2017.

As part of the annual meeting, the Directors also donated to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry with a contribution of 69 food items and $380 in monetary donations.
The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield was founded in 1960. Its purpose is to provide financial need assistance to residents of Wakefield in their full time pursuit of higher education. Further information about TSF can be found at www.tsfofwakefield.org.

The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield Director Frank McLean received the organization’s Patricia B. Mooney Volunteer Recognition Award during the 56th Annual Meeting held recently at the Crystal Community Club. Frank received the award from outgoing President Jennifer Walter.
