Wakefield Announces Affordable Housing Lottery For Wrenly Residences

WAKEFIELD, MA — Wrenly Residences is a new homeownership community comprised of 58 residential homes located at 62 Foundry Street in Wakefield, steps from the Wakefield MBTA train station. The lottery is now open for ten affordable condominiums. Each unit will include in-unit laundry and one exterior surface parking space. The condos feature single-level living, oversized windows with an abundance of natural light, and thoughtfully design layouts. General building amenities include two elevators, a fitness room, package room, common rooms including a fireplace lounge and co-working spaces, and an elevated landscaped courtyard with grilling stations and gathering areas. Through the lottery process, these condos will be sold at affordable prices to households with incomes at or below 80 percent of the area median income. The condominiums are expected to be ready for occupancy in May 2025.

The Town of Wakefield has established a local preference requirement for up to 70% of the affordable homes at Wrenly Residences. Through the lottery process, several of the homes will be first offered to households that qualify for Local Preference. An applicant qualifies for local preference if the applicant or a member of their household fits into one of the following categories: Current resident of Wakefield; An employee of the Town of Wakefield (including employees of the Wakefield School district working at schools located in Wakefield); An individual who works for a business located in Wakefield; A household with children attending Wakefield schools.
