Two local Wakefield businesses are joining Rally Against CancerSM to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Team Optum Wakefield led by Lisa Matthias and Team Interactive Data led by Deborah Bresnahan are “rallying” to win a visit from one of this year’s Rally Spokesplayers, Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks or Boston Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
When the Red Sox suit up against the Baltimore Orioles on Opening Day at Fenway Park Monday, April 8, Red Sox Nation is encouraged to Rally Against Cancer. By contributing $5 or more to the Jimmy Fund, participants have the opportunity to “Dress for Sox-cess” and wear Boston Red Sox gear to work or school. The top fundraising workplace and school (K-12, college, or university) are each eligible for a visit from Middlebrooks or Saltalamacchia, who are also Jimmy Fund Co-Captains for the 2013 season.
The two players join the ranks of past Rally Against Cancer spokesplayers including, Daniel Bard, Tim Wakefield, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, and Trot Nixon. Now in its eighth year, Rally Against Cancer has raised more than $3 million to support the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber. This year, the program hopes to raise $550,000.
