Wakefield Could Get $666,777 From State For Road Work
Senate approves Chapter 90 funds, meaning Wakefield in line to receive money for road and bridge repairs.

Wakefield is in line to receive almost $700,000 for road work after the Massachusetts Senate passed a three-year, $600 million investment of “Chapter 90” funding for local road and bridge repairs.
“Chapter 90” funds are allocated using a longstanding formula based on community road miles, population and employment. The expected FY2019 apportionment to Wakefield is $666,777.
The legislation passed authorizes $200 million each year for the next three years for infrastructure improvements in municipalities across the Commonwealth. This multi-year investment provides cities and towns with the ability to plan their construction needs in advance, giving communities access to predictable and consistent funding, enhancing local economic development.

“The Chapter 90 program is an important example of the partnership role that state government plays, supporting municipal efforts in critical areas, including infrastructure and local economic development,” said Senator Jason Lewis. “I’m pleased that the state is able to support Wakefield with this funding for infrastructure repairs.”
The bill will now be reconciled with a version passed by the House of Representatives, before moving to the Governor for final approval.
