Wakefield High Bomb Threat: Building Cleared, Students Safe

An automated threat was sent to Wakefield High School Tuesday morning.

WAKEFIELD, MA—Wakefield High School has been cleared and students are safe after a bomb threat was called in Tuesday morning.

An automated threat was sent to the school Tuesday morning, according to a release from the Wakefield Police Department. The building was cleared by law enforcement and students were permitted to resume their school day.

“In response to an automated threat received by the office staff at Wakefield Memorial High School, school administration, in conjunction with the Wakefield Police and Fire Departments, initiated an evacuation of the building,” Superintendent Kim Smith said in a statement Tuesday.”After completing a search of the building, it was determined that the school is now safe for students to return. Classes are due to resume in the next few minutes and lunch will be served. We are appreciative of the collective effort of staff, students, and emergency personnel.”

Two other similar threats were reported in the Commonwealth today. Arlington High School and Tucker Elementary School in Milton were also evacuated Tuesday due to bomb threats.

“As stressful and frightening as these incidents are for parents of the students, the fact that parents did not come to the school or call to try and dismiss their children was extremely helpful. Thank you,” wrote the Wakefield Police in a statement.
