Wakefield Main Streets Launches its Stretch Goal - Fundraiser May 9th
Fundraiser for Main Streets - Caryns - May 9th
Thanks to the generosity of individuals, families, businesses and local organizations, Wakefield Main Streets has reached its initial Patronicity crowdfunding goal of $29,000 to receive a matching grant from the MassDevelopment Commonwealth Places program.
Since the goal was reached ahead of the May 31st deadline, the community has an opportunity to work toward a stretch goal that will expand the possibilities to further enhance the downtown area. The stretch goal of an additional $16,000 will enable the placement of additional benches or kiosks, more self-watering planters and expanded tree lighting.
In addition to donating to the Patronicity crowdfunding that can be accessed at www.patronicity.com/project/revitalizing_downtown_wakefield_together#/, the community will have an opportunity to help meet the stretch goal by dining at Caryn’s Sports Bar and Restaurant on Tuesday evening, May 9th from 6 to 9 p.m. The 397A Main Street restaurant will donate 20% of its sales during that time to Wakefield Main Streets.

Donations via the Patronicity program can be made on site, or donors can bring a check with them that evening.
Opportunities are still available for those who wish to sponsor an individual bench, a tree for lighting, or a kiosk. Others can contribute to the general fund to help reach the stretch goal.

The funds will be used to purchase and install benches in the downtown area, provide year-round lighting on trees, and install wayfinding kiosks in locations to beautify the downtown area. Pairs of benches will be placed downtown, between Lincoln Street and Yale Avenue, to provide attractive and inviting places to gather and sit. Trees throughout the downtown area will be lit each evening to create a more inviting ambiance and to make the streets brighter and safer during the evening. Wayfinding kiosks will provide centralized places for residents and visitors to get information about local events, community information, maps and information about places of interest.
Wakefield Main Streets, Inc. is a 501(c)3 working to establish and promote downtown Wakefield as a vibrant, inviting destination by fostering historic preservation, economic renewal, and community involvement.
