Wakefield Man Missing Since December Possibly Found In Thawed Lake: DA
The clothing on the body recovered from Lake Quannapowitt matched that of the missing man, according to the district attorney's office.

WAKEFIELD, MA — A body recovered from a thawed lake Tuesday afternoon appears to be that of a Wakefield man who disappeared in December.
"Preliminary information, including the clothing of the victim, suggests that it is the body of Jason Thomas, 45," the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said in a media release.

Thomas left home the night of Dec. 12 and when he failed to return, his wife reported him missing early the next morning, according to the release.

The Wakefield police conducted an extensive search, employing resources from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, dogs and drones, according to the release, but Thomas remained missing for nearly three months.
About 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wakefield police detective searching Lake Quannapowitt, which had been frozen, "located what appeared to be a body in the water," the release said.

"This matter will be referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the identity and the cause and manner of death," the release said. "Based on the preliminary information, no foul play is suspected."
